Artifact: Weebly Screencast
Reflection:
This artifact is an informational presentation about using and troubleshooting a Weebly website. The presentation was designed as an assignment for ITEC 7430. This artifact was developed using Jing and the presentation was shared using www.screencast.com. In this Screencast presentation, I provide a brief overview of www.weebly.com, an online resource for blog and website development. In addition, I highlight several simple troubleshooting solutions to address commonly encountered problems. The presentation was shared with my colleagues and included as a resource on a Wiki devoted to Weebly.
In this presentation, I utilized a variety of digital resources (Jing, Screencast, PowerPoint) to communicate information and troubleshooting suggestions for a technology-based resource (Weebly). While Weebly is an online resource, it is frequently used by teachers for classroom websites and blogs, as well as for instructional resources. This presentation addresses several common problems that could be encountered while using Weebly as a digital learning environment. In addition, because this presentation was shared through Screencast, it is easily accessible to a broad range of users.
This task required me to utilize my knowledge of a digital resource and understanding of basic troubleshooting, along with my technology skills. From the experience, I learned more about Weebly as a digital resource and learned more about common problems encountered by users. In addition, I learned about common troubleshooting practices and suggestions. Finally, I gained technical skills through using Jing and Screencast for the first time. Each of these resources has been helpful with additional projects I have completed in the program. If given the opportunity to enhance this project, I would like to expand the presentation to include more information about troubleshooting. While there are infinite technical challenges that can be encountered, I feel that there are a few additional troubleshooting suggestions that would be beneficial to the presentation.
The experience I gained from this project certainly benefited my learning and the learning of others. While the information I shared in the Screencast can be used to help other teachers use Weebly, the knowledge and skills I gained from the experience are also helpful. Learning how to provide remote technical support and information has provided me with the knowledge and understanding of communicating information asynchronously with a variety of audiences. This learning experience will support my endeavors to use technology to expand and enhance the learning experiences of my students through online learning programs. In addition, I feel that this project made me a more effective communicator of information, which benefits me, my students, and my colleagues.
